Nina and her brother Drew (ADAM MACDONALD - Snow in August), share a loveless childhood devastated by cruelty and abuse at the hand of their alcoholic father. When a fire at the family home kills both parents, the two young orphans are left with only each other. Drew feels duty bound to protect Nina but this soon evolves into something more sinister and his preoccupation with her life becomes both suffocating and terrifying. As Nina enters her teenage years, her brother's volatile behaviour grows rapidly worse and at the age of 14, he is held responsible for the death of her long-standing admirer Clyde and sent to a juvenile centre. Following his release, Nina's ex-boyfriend goes missing and she is convinced that Drew has played a part in his disappearance. Desperate to be free from the devastation that surrounds her, Nina changes her identity and leaves her hometown to finally put her past behind her.


Twelve years later and Nina is now a wife and mother of two, living a seemingly idyllic life. Struggling to fix a broken marriage, Nina and Stuart work on rebuilding their life together. Nina's life is subsequently thrown into chaos with the unexpected re-appearance of her estranged brother. Swearing that he is a changed man, Drew's manipulative charm and charisma wins over both Nina's friends and family, who refuse to believe her shocking claims about him. In need of answers, Nina hires a private detective to track Drew's movements. What she uncovers is a string of horrific so-called accidents that trail in the wake of his path. Terrified, Nina realises who the next victims will be. Now she must do all she can to protect her family from a brother who will stop at nothing to tear them apart.
