Kelly Helms (SHIRI APPLEBY - Swimfan, ER) has been struggling to work recently, following the murder of her sister a few months earlier. When the police close the file, she is adamant there's more to it - but no one else believes her.
Graydon Jennings (CHRIS POTTER - The Pacifier, Sex Traffic) is a successful crime novelist, writing his books from the killer's point of view. His most recent novel, 'Thrill of the Kill' is set to top best seller lists, as all his novels do.
Kelly is left shocked and disturbed after reading Graydon's novel; the similarities between the murder of her sister and the victim in the book are too close for a mere coincidence. Adamant that he holds the key to the mystery, Kelly tracks him down at a book signing. Seeing the potential for a new book, Graydon agrees to help. As he delves into Allison's life, with the help of her case file and various diaries, Graydon uncovers a secret side to Kelly's sister that she knew nothing about - she had been having an affair with a U.S. Senator. Together, Kelly and Graydon track down Senator Hartford (MATT COOKE - Monte Walsh) who violently threatens Kelly when she reveals her findings.
Despite being worried about leaving Kelly, Graydon's work means he must return to New York and Kellys best friend Linda moves into the house; the girls settle in and put their worries behind them. However, it's not long before Kelly is revisited by the horror of her sister's murder. On returning home one night, she finds a terrified Linda tied up on the bed just as Allison had been before she was killed. Crippled by fear, Kelly turns to Jennings for help and in doing so unravels the dark and sinister truth surrounding Allison's death, as well as bringing her uncomfortably close to her own.
