This coming-of-age drama focuses on a blossoming romance set against the unusual backdrop of an Irish cattle drive. It follows the journey of a young Irishman who finds his own inner strength as the outer world, on the brink of a major war, is poised to change forever.

In Ireland in 1939, Mark Doran (MATT KEESLAR), a young cattle farmer, prepares himself for what will become his greatest challenge in life - delivering the small farmer from the economic injustices they have suffered for far too long. For as long as can be remembered, the farmers in Mark's small village have been swindled by wealthy cattle buyers who pay less for their cows than they are worth. When Mark decides that he would rather walk forty miles with his cows to the village of Trallock to get a fair price for his herd than sell at a loss, his fellow farmers are skeptical. But he is persistent, and soon wins their support.

Fergus Mullaney (PATRICK BERGIN), the town's most physically intimidating man and most overprotective father. While Annie and Mark have pledged themselves to one another, he can't quite muster the courage to ask for her hand in marriage. Needless to say, his reluctance puts a strain on their relationship.

As Mark herds the cows towards Trallock, he is forced to prove to himself and to the townspeople that he is truly up to the challenge, and that he possesses the pluck necessary to lead the cattle drive. When Annie joins him on the road, Mark is also forced to face his fears, confront her father, and do what it takes to save their relationship.

BRENDA FRICKER stars as Mark's strong-willed Aunt Maeve, one of the colorful characters that accompany him on his journey.
