Artear, the leading Argentine broadcaster and producer, has sealed a major new three phase deal with Power, which includes more than 60 hours of primetime drama and landmark television mini-series.
In phase one of the multi year agreement, Artear acquires a total of 15 new mini-series including a range of titles from the prestigious RHI Entertainment catalogue. These include Tin Man, a cyber-twisted remake of the Wizard of Oz starring Zooey Deschanel (Surf's Up, Failure to Launch) and Richard Dreyfuss (Poseidon, Silver City); and the new action thriller Final Approach which stars Dean Cain, William Forsythe and Lea Thompson.
The package also includes Power's biggest original drama production, Flood. Directed by Tony Mitchell, Flood comprises a stellar international cast, including Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, The Full Monty, Eragon), Jessalyn Gilsig (Nip/Tuck, Prison Break), David Suchet (Poirot, The Way We Live Now, A World Apart) and Joanne Whalley (The Virgin Queen, Scandal, Before You Go). The producers are Power's Justin Bodle and Peter McAleese. Flood is based upon the book by Richard Doyle.
Artear has committed to a further 30 titles under the agreement, which runs until 2009/2010. It was brokered by Pepe Echegaray, Power's Vice President of Sales and Distribution for the Latin America region who is responsible for expanding Power's footprint across the LatAm region.
Commenting on the agreement, Pepe Echegaray said: ""This is a landmark deal for Power which seals our relationship with Artear and confirms our commitment, as an independent producer, to creating and distributing the kind of premium TV content that can clearly compete with some of the leading Hollywood studios."
