THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS TRIUMPHS AT THE BAFTA CRAFT AWARDS

Leading independent producer and distributor Power was yesterday honoured with a BAFTA craft award for The Day of the Triffids. The mini series which aired on BBC1 over Christmas 2009, triumphed in the Visual Effects category, beating off stiff competition from Merlin, Doctor Who and World War II in Colour.

This win adds to the evergrowing list of BAFTA Craft awards that Power already holds including The Devil's Whore, The Virgin Queen, Colditz and Casanova amongst others.

The Day of the Triffids is a Power and Prodigy co-production. The 2 part special-effects extravaganza is a fast paced contemporary take on John Wyndham's international bestseller. When the human race is threatened by a near fatal meteor shower, the Triffids, a highly dangerous crop of plants mutate and turn against mankind.
